Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of their course of study, Russian Studies Minors demonstrate:
- Learning goal 1: Development in Russian language across the four language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking), as well as a level of cultural competency that grants students the skills and competencies to understand the country in a sophisticated manner.
- Learning goal 2: The critical skills necessary to read, analyze and interpret a variety of texts through writing, discussion and other forms of analytical and creative expression.
- Learning goal 3: Interdisciplinary knowledge of the philosophical and ideological underpinning of Russia’s distinctive sets of cultural values, attitudes and methods of organizing experience.
- Learning goal 4: Cross-cultural understanding of the historical, political and socio-economic challenges of Russia’s trajectory vis-à-vis the West.
