Q&A: From Muhlenberg to the Main Line
How his undergraduate experience helped Ty Palmieri ’26 gain acceptance into Villanova University’s law schoolBy: Evan Schlotterbeck ’25 Monday, March 17, 2025 11:46 AM

Ty Palmieri ’26, an economics major, was recently accepted into the Charles Widger School of Law at Villanova University, his first choice law school.
Even though he is graduating a year early, Palmieri’s time at Muhlenberg prepared him well for the law school application cycle. From his involvement in Greek life on campus to being a student-athlete on the golf team and leading the Pre-law Club, Palmieri drew upon his wide variety of experiences at Muhlenberg throughout his application process.
What about Villanova piqued your interest?
Ty Palmieri ’26 One thing was the location. I would like to work in Philly when I get out of law school, so having Villanova be a top school in the area is a nice connection. I don’t live too far from there, either, so it wouldn’t be that much of a drive. But, honestly, the campus is really what sold me. It is very beautiful, and their sports law program is extremely well-rated along with their corporate law [program]. I knew I wanted to explore those two options and since they had both of them, I thought I might as well apply.
Why are you interested in law school?
When I was first looking at the idea of law school, I found two reasons I wanted to go down that route. One is that most companies will not turn down someone with a law degree. There are a lot of jobs that I could go into, regardless of the type of law that I would study. … The second reason is that I like to argue. It’s fun to have discussions where you can look at the minute details and figure out the complexity of things, then try to speak in front of an audience.
How did Muhlenberg support you through the application process?
I think the main part of my experience would be the staff and professors. When I was creating my résumé and doing all of my optional essays, the professors that I have and that I previously had, I have stayed in constant communication with them and they helped with the process. That family environment and smaller school are what helped me do so well.
What would you consider your most valuable experience at Muhlenberg?
Honestly, I think it would be joining ATO. Obviously, when I got into Villanova I had support from friends and family at home, but it is a lot different than 30 other guys texting you privately, wishing you the best, and sending you connections, people they know within the field or around the area — it has really made me realize that it has been one of the best decisions I have made here.
